Amanda Giorgis was born in Somerset, England and started her working life in teaching. She emigrated to New Zealand in 2008 and lived in the Mackenzie Basin until moving recently to North Canterbury.
Amanda writes while looking out onto the snow-capped Southern Alps beyond. It is a place where it is easy to find inspiration for stories of the early settlers, who made New Zealand their home.
She shares her home on a ten acre block of Canterbury land with her husband, Terry, three rescued huntaway dogs, Nemo, Jess and Ted, and some chickens, who are more ornamental than productive.
The Wideawake Hat is Amanda’s first novel, and the first book in the Applecross Saga. The second book, Shepherd’s Delight, will be available in Spring 2019.
